Vak - U16 Girls (Eclipse) - Assistant Coach

With over a decade of experience as an athlete, my volleyball journey has taken me through competitive high school, club, and university levels.

As a coach, I am driven by the philosophy of Kaizen. I challenge my athletes to seek growth in every session, fostering a culture of discipline and long-term excellence. My goal is to foster a lifetime of passion into purposeful mentorship for the next generation of players.”

Ryan Liggayu - U16 Girls (Eclipse) Head Coach + U15 Girls (Moon) Coach

Ryan loves sports. He grew up playing volleyball, basketball and badminton and is a big fan of creating well-rounded athletes. As someone who has been playing volleyball for over 15 years competitively and recreationally, he has shuffled through all the positions (but favours the lib and setter positions). Ryan has been coaching for 2 years, and has loved the new experience of helping young athletes grow and passing down his game knowledge and philosophy on sports. His goal is to create a fun environment that allows each athlete to build both strong volleyball skills and character.

Maria Diaz - U16 Girls (Eclipse) - Assistant Coach

I am a volleyball coach with a strong playing background and a passion for working with youth athletes. I played club volleyball in Edmonton with Heat Volleyball Club and Park Elite, and I continue to play competitive recreational volleyball.

I strive to create a positive and engaging practice environment that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and confidence-building. My coaching approach focuses on strong fundamentals, consistent effort, and helping athletes enjoy the learning process. My goal is for players to develop their skills, grow as teammates, and build a lasting appreciation for the game.

John Abenojar - U16 Girls (Helios) - Head Coach

John started his coaching journey at DTSS and with VVC back in 2016. He then went on to coach with many other schools and clubs within the lower mainland totaling just under 10 years of experience. He is a DT grad and is now teaching at Churchill Secondary School.

My coaching philosophy is athlete-centred and driven by commitment to excellence, both on and off the court. I believe athletes can reach their highest potential when they are challenged, supported, and held to high standards in an environment built on trust and respect. Excellence is not just about winning, it is also having consistent effort, accountability, and a willingness to grow. I place strong value on building meaningful relationships with my athletes and maintaining an open and honest communication line with families. We are partners in every athlete’s development. By working together with families and the wider community, I aim to create a culture where athletes strive for excellence, feel supported in the process, and develop a lifelong love for volleyball.

Tiffany Ho - U16 Girls (Helios) - Assistant Coach

Tiffany is a David Thompson alumni who has been playing volleyball for 10 years and coaching for 5 years. Her coaching philosophy revolves around developing good habits and mental on and off court. Tiffany’s favourite part of coaching is creating an environment where athletes feel supported in their growth and watching them thrive in it. She continues to play volleyball recreationally and enjoys other physical activities like playing badminton, bouldering, and going to the gym!

Sianna Lee - U16 Girls (Helios) - Assistant Coach

Sianna brings over 10 years of volleyball playing experience and 3 years of coaching across camps, school teams, and club programs. Having played nearly every position on the court (with the exception of middle, for obvious reasons), she offers a well-rounded understanding of the game and the demands of each role.

Her coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, accountability, and growth. Rather than dwelling on mistakes, Sianna encourages athletes to reflect, make adjustments, and apply those lessons moving forward. The goal is to foster a focused, supportive environment where players are challenged to improve both individually and as a team.  Sianna continues to play volleyball recreationally as an adult, staying connected to the sport and bringing current, on-court experience into her coaching.

Fun fact: a medium iced capp is a non-negotiable part of her pre-game routine.

Jenny Dinh - Coach

Jenny has four years of club experience including being a VVC alumni. She was the junior girls head coach at David Thompson Secondary, guiding her team to a second place finish in the VSSAA Championships. She also was an assistant coach at VVC last season to the 15U Girls Red and Black teams.
